The physics of non-ideal general relativistic magnetohydrodynamics

ABSTRACT We consider a framework for non-ideal magnetohydrodynamics in general relativity, paying particular attention to the physics involved. The discussion highlights connection between microphysics (associated with given equation of state) and global dynamics (from point view numerical simulations), includes careful consideration assumptions that lead ideal resistive magnetohydrodynamics. pay issue local charge neutrality, which tends be assumed but appears more involved than is generally appreciated. While we do not resolve all issues, highlight how some simplifications may tested by simulations. final formulation prepares ground new generation models relevant astrophysical scenarios.
